About Love 2 Learn Preschool

My Philosophy:

Through my education, teaching experience, and observation of my own children, I have seen how important the early childhood years are. Preschool aged children are learning so much at this stage, they truly soak up new information like little sponges. Preschool is a child's first real "school" experience, and I believe it should be a positive one. Young children are naturally curious about the world around them and enthusiastic about learning. I believe this curiosity and love of learning should be fostered in the preschool environment. Students should have plenty of opportunity for exploration and hands on experiences. Simply put, learning should be fun!  Some of my goals are to make each child feel safe and valued at school, nurture their love of learning, facilitate learning of age appropriate skills, and prepare them for the next step in their learning journey.

Curriculum:

There are a variety of skills my preschoolers will be working on, usually through hands-on, interactive, play-based activities. First, they will be improving their social skills as they interact with their preschool peers during play time, circle time, and group activities. We will foster their independence as we work on life skills such as taking care of their belongings, following instructions, helping clean up, simple kitchen skills, and even some gardening. We will have a letter of the week and include fun ways for them to become familiarized with letters of the alphabet and the sounds they make. They will develop pre-reading skills as we read, discuss, and act out stories together, learn to recognize rhyming words (often through songs and fingerplays), become familiar with their their own names ,etc. We will work on age appropriate math skills like sorting, matching, and shapes. They will be provided with unique activities that allow them to improve their fine motor skills to prepare them for writing. They will also improve their gross motor skills through the outdoor play and games that will be included, as well as our music and movement activities. We will have monthly themes that will provide avenues to make our learning more fun and exciting, and to teach them about the world around them.
